From Central Station (train station – FS) or from Cadorna Nord Station (train station – Trenord)

Take the Metro Line M2 (green line) in the direction of Gessate/Cologno Nord and get off at Piola station.Once you are outside, follow the indications toward Politecnico (2-3 minutes by foot).

Ticket: A standard ATM ticket costs €2.20 and is valid for 90 minutes on all public transport (metro, bus, tram). You can also pay contactless at the turnstiles.

Metro operating hours: 6:00 AM to 12:30 AM daily

From Malpensa Airport

Option 1: Malpensa Express Train (Recommended)

From Malpensa Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, take the Malpensa Express train (prices and timetables at www.malpensaexpress.it):

  • To Milano Cadorna (journey time: ~37 minutes): From Cadorna, take Metro Line M2 (green line) direction Gessate/Cologno Nord and get off at Piola station. The campus is a short walk from the station.
  • To Milano Centrale (journey time: ~52 minutes): From Centrale, take Metro Line M2 (green line) direction Gessate/Cologno Nord and get off at Piola station.

The approximate total travel time is 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Option 2: Bus Service

 

There are bus services from both T1 and T2 to Milano Centrale (Stazione Centrale), operated by companies like Malpensa Shuttle, Autostradale/Airport Bus Express, and Terravision. The bus journey takes approximately 50-70 minutes, depending on traffic. From Centrale, take Metro Line M2 to Piola as described above.

From Linate Airport

Option 1: Metro M4 + M1 + M2 (Recommended – Fastest Public Transport)

From Linate Airport, take the Metro Line M4 (blue line) from the Linate Aeroporto station.

Route A – Via San Babila and Loreto:

  1. Take M4 direction San Cristoforo to San Babila (~12 minutes)
  2. At San Babila, transfer to M1 (red line) direction Sesto 1° Maggio
  3. Ride to Loreto (4 stops)
  4. At Loreto, transfer to M2 (green line) direction Gessate/Cologno Nord
  5. Get off at Piola (1 stop)
  6. The Politecnico Leonardo Campus is a short walk from Piola station

Total travel time: approximately 30-35 minutes (including transfers)

Route B – Via Sant’Ambrogio (alternative):

  1. Take M4 direction San Cristoforo to Sant’Ambrogio (~20 minutes)
  2. At Sant’Ambrogio, transfer to M2 (green line) direction Gessate/Cologno Nord
  3. Get off at Piola (10 stops)

Total travel time: approximately 35-40 minutes

Option 2: Bus Service

There are bus services from Linate to Milano Centrale (e.g., Airport Bus Express, Linate Shuttle). The journey takes approximately 25-35 minutes, depending on traffic. From Milano Centrale, take the Metro Line M2 (green line) in the direction of Gessate/Cologno Nord and get off at Piola station.

Total travel time: approximately 45-50 minutes (plus waiting time for bus)

By taxi

A taxi from Linate Airport to Politecnico di Milano costs approximately €25-35 and takes about 15-25 minutes depending on traffic. Taxi ranks are located in front of gate 5 at arrivals.

From Malpensa airport there is a fixed fare of €114 to any address in Milan (including Politecnico), available 24/7 at Terminal 1 (exit 6) and Terminal 2 (exit 4), no extra charges for luggage, night, or holiday. The trip takes about ~50-55 min
