Research Interests

My inspiration and ultimate goal are to be part of a research plan that will provide technological breakthroughs and contribute to solving critical environmental issues of our society, such as climate change. So, I investigate numerically the morphology and optical properties of carbonaceous (soot) nanoparticles emitted by incomplete combustion of fossil and biofuels, as well as by forest and house fires which contribute to global warming. On the other hand, these nanoparticles are of high interest in many energy storage applications (e.g. batteries, nanomedicine, etc.) when produced under controlled conditions! These reasons motivate me to model from first principle carbonaceous nanoparticle formation dynamics in flames as well as their behaviour in the atmosphere.
